2009 - 2010 Service Point Form Guidelines

Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society's four hallmarks are: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Fellowship. Your Alpha Nu Omega Chapter here at HACC is very active in all of these hallmark areas. Addressing the Service hallmark, Phi Theta Kappans are encouraged to perform and record service activities that benefit our chapter, college, and community.

Two (2) service points are awarded for each one (1) hour of volunteer work or one (1) point for each $20 sold during the chapter's two yearly fundraising campaigns.

Each established Kappan is responsible for accumulating and reporting 20 volunteer service points (10 hours) per semester --- Spring & Fall --- for an annual minimum total of 40 service points (20 hours).

For members inducted in March or October, your requirement will now be 20 volunteer service points (10 hours) reported by the end of the semester. All hours accumulated as of the date of your orientation will be counted. As an established member, your first full semester as a member and each term thereafter, your responsibility is 20 service points.

Some members opt to continue their volunteer work through the summer months. Those members volunteering during the summer should report their hours. If for some reason, you are unable to reach 20 service points during the regular fall or spring semesters, these summer service points can be used to help you reach your minimum total. Again, established members are asked to reach 40 service points on a yearly basis January 1st-December 31st.
